After you have spent quite a large sum of money on your holiday, you run a risk that something may go wrong and lose all your money. Even now, many tourists do not believe that the cost of travel insurance is worthwhile and put everything at risk by traveling without it.
Considering the amount of money that travel insurance in reality costs in relation to the overall vacation cost, it is minimal at around five to ten percent but can give the traveler peace of mind when and so many things can go wrong. Not only could you be prevented from traveling through accident or illness but even worse, they could happen when you were on vacation and in which case you could either lose the deposit or be asked to pay local medical examination bills.

The worst position is where you have to cancel your holiday almost at the last minute at the likely loss of thousands of dollars but travel insurance will soften the cost of this. If you look at a travel insurance package that does not contain a trip cancellation section then it isnt worth using that insurance company because if that happens, you need to know you can claim the cash back.
A vacation can also be interrupted partway through and cancellation coverage will refund any unused parts of your holiday including any unused deposits for other trips. Unfortunately, terrorist act seem to be something we have to live with and many travel insurance firms are coming to terms with this but they are not all the same in this regard so you must look for one that will cover for both domestic and foreign incidents.
Whilst travel insurance is not expensive and many are as low as 5 percent of the holiday price, this percentage will rise, generally as a result of the persons age who is taking the insurance out. One unfortunate occurrence is when the tour operator etc.
Always check for duplicate coverage as there are a few types of insurance related to travel that you may not need because you are covered from other sources which could include your health insurance, life insurance or even your auto plan, may have limited coverage. Thus, you could be purchasing duplicate coverage and so it is important to always compare with your existing insurance policies to insure there are no duplications. It may be boring but check the fine print carefully on your insurances to confirm that you are in fact covered by segments of the insurance when you travel.
