Is Cheap Travel Insurance Very Necessary?

Travel is already pricey enough, isn’t it? The price tag on air fare, cruises, places to stay, ground transportation, food and activities and entertainment are already high enough. I don’t know about you, but I work hard for my money, and when I travel, I need to keep as much of my money in MY pocket as possible. Is travel insurance a necessity or a luxury? Why not cut a few corners here and there. Why get something if it’s not really needed?
My particular answer is, of course, that I am not independently wealthy and can’t withstand the potential financial losses I would incur if I have medical care while I’m vacationing. Not being independently well-off also means that I’m in the market for adequate but cheap travel insurance. I suspect that you are in a similar position, so you, too need cheap travel insurance. If you’re still not sure about that, consider the examples here.

Did you know that if you get hurt or are injured on a trip abroad, your medical plan may not cover all the expenditures you will incur? If the cost of treatment is higher than the maximums of your medical plan, you will be the culprit for the difference, unless you previously purchased travel insurance. The truth is, you may not even be admitted into hospitals in various countries without proof you have health or medical insurance cover.
This is all for real, irrespective of age or length of time abroad. Suppose you fall ill just a few hours after arriving at your vacation spot. Or suppose you make a day- trip abroad, and you are injured in a traffic accident. Or suppose one of your children is part of a group making a class visit abroad, gets food poisoning and necessitates hospitalization.

In all cases, without sufficient travel health insurance, you will be responsible for the costs above and beyond the limitations of your existing medical plan. Hence, before going abroad, you need to make sure that you are adequately covered by travel medical insurance that won’t break your finances. You should check to determine if appropriate coverage is already on hand to you through your medical plan, employee benefits, and in many cases through a credit card. If the coverage is sufficient for your needs, then get ready to enjoy your trip without getting into the extra tremendous expense of travel insurance. Having said that, if you are not sure of your coverage, or if your coverage is limited or non- existent, then your next step could be to research and get the travel insurance coverage that’s required.

When I invested in my first plane ticket to Vietnam a few years ago it cost around$ 2000 round- trip, and our travel insurance cost me over$ 500 because I didn’t seek for cheap travel insurance via the internet. 20 short months later, a bit older and wiser, my travel insurance for another trip to Vietnam cost me way less- – about$ 300 for roughly the same coverage. The difference? Before purchasing my travel insurance for the second trip, I shopped around on the internet and got the insurance coverage I needed, at the best price. If I’d have bought my travel insurance for this latest trip from my travel agent, it would’ve cost me roughly$ 600 for the trip, and my plane tickets only cost$ 1, 500! Not exactly the wise way to go.

So how much will it cost you? Not as much cash as it will cost you if you get sick or injured abroad and you don’t have any travel coverage! That’s well-known answer to the question. In fact, how much travel insurance costs will be based on on your age and the kind of coverage opt for. Standard policies cost as little as$ 5.00 USD per$ 1000 of coverage. On the other hand, you can expect an entire coverage policy to cost you from 7 to 10% of the price tag on your trip, depending on your age. The older you are, greater you will pay.

Whichever the cost of the policy, nevertheless, it’s sure to be much less than the cost of medical evacuation! What I learned is that you can easily, conveniently and quickly explore and locate superb but cheap online travel insurance and lower the costs while making a sensible purchase. This is a lot better than taking what you are offered at the travel agency since we can choose from hundreds of travel insurance companies and polices and cut back on a lot of funds in the process.
